As we approach the arrival of the Android-based OUYA gaming console, which is scheduled to release in March for early pre-orders and June for retailers, the company has outlined its approach to approving new games available for the platform.
OUYA CEO and founder Julie Uhrman told engadget that their review process will be relatively quick and not unlike the systems in place with online storefronts like Google Play and the App Store.
She explained that once developers submit their games for approval, OUYA will review the titles primarily for violations in three key areas including intellectual property infringement, malware and excessive pornography. “But ultimately it’s a quick review,” Uhrman added, “and you’re in the storefront in one capacity or another.”
Developers are already able to submit their games onto the official OUYA store, with the review process expected to begin as early as the middle of February and no later than the end of the month. If you didn't pre-order an OUYA, you'll be able to purchase one for $99 at a variety of major retailers in June including Best Buy, GameStop, Target and Amazon.com.
